Best Gift Ideas for our Beautiful Bliss

Our perfect joy, Bliss Giane’s 1st birthday is in 2 weeks. I am so enjoying watching Giane grow, learn and play (hope you also enjoy my social media posts) — and figuring out new pieces of who she is - that I can only pretend to envision what our next year just might bring.

I send this message to all of our beloved and well-meaning friends and family, who wish to give presents to our Princess. I know that you are all generous and mean well and that it is truly a joy to see Giane’s eyes get bigger and face light up when she sees and opens a carefully-wrapped present that is meant for her to have.

To be honest (cliché as it might sound), your presence in her life is truly enough. But if you wish to give a present to her, Neo and I made a list of the things Giane (and our family) would truly appreciate. Most of them are really cheap. Thus, preventing you from breaking your savings!

1.         Baby Care

Giane has a very sensitive skin and to soothe, replenish and restore her skin moisture, we use the following products:

Cetaphil Restoraderm Moisturizer and Body Wash
Most Pharmacies have Buy-1-Take-1 offer

Pampers Premium Care (Sizes 4 and 5) and Wet Wipes

2.         Clothes and Shoes

We are trying to teach Giane to live a simpler life to make her life easier. So no to expensive clothes and shoes (save it for her 18th birthday!).

Size is 18 months and up
Clothes are preferably made in cotton (to reduce skin allergy)

3.         Toddler on the Go

Baby Carrier
Best ergonomics for our little one is the one that gives a 'Happy hips' position.

Infant Car Seat (12-36 months)
Traveling with Giane will be more fun and safe as she sits in this car seat.

Diaper and wet bag
A waterproof lining makes life easier when spills occur and multiple compartments that keep our items organized and easy to find.

4.         Activity Toys

I’ve been motivated making a few Montessori-inspired items for our home (less is more).  As such, here are some of the things on our project list that we hope to complete in the months for our toddler.
Montessori Toys for Toddlers

Weaning Table and Chairs
A cube chair set is a great investment for any Montessori home. For a more affordable but less sturdy option, you may message me.

Wooden Musical Instruments
Tambourine, cymbals, maracas, clacker, tone blocks, and a triangle

As much as possible, no plastics and/or battery operated toys, please.

5.         Books

If you are planning to pick a book for Giane, there are a lot of books that will help us enrich her. Not just during her toddler years but its content will still be useful for years to come.

6.         Experiences

Gift vouchers for a new adventure and monetary gifts to be added to her BDO account
would also be perfect ideas as we love to let Giane experience her world rather than being stuck in the house.

We are not requiring our family and friends to buy these things for Giane. We just want to avoid unnecessary spending that comes from our loved ones. It also breaks our hearts every time we receive presents for her, only to realize that we need to store them in a box and preserve them as gifts for other kids. I’m pretty sure all of us parents want to be practical, especially when buying gifts.

You don’t have to give Giane anything expensive really. She enjoys playing with bottled water and paper just the same as any child who loves playing with expensive toys.

Love and bliss,

Neo and Grace

(inspired by Kalinga ni Nanay and Montessori)
